n-catie

For our work in Central America we collaborate with CATIE, a transnational interdisciplinary research institute that covers all aspects of tropical agronomy.

CATIE – Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza

Within the institute, our main local collaborators are prof. Norvin Sepulveda and prof. Eduardo Somarriba

Initial pilot work by our group on pollination dynamics has  been carried out in Central America in the Neotropics in the natural environment in which wild cacao evolved and has been consumed and cultivated already for more than 3000 years. However, particularly in our ongoing barcoding projects we are rapidly expanding our research to the main global cacao cultivation regions in South America and Central Africa.
